Is wearing two wedding gowns a new trend?
Hardly! Au contraire my friends, choosing two different dresses is quite an oldie.! Back in the day when supra-lavish wedding parties were the thing among the well-heeled, it was considered quite importunate for the bride to sport two looks. One for the moments she’d walk down the aisle, say I do to her soulmate, and take those magical wedding portraits, and one for the reception. The second dress was not necessarily white, rather a ball gown with a more flowing skirt. The aim was to give the bride the opportunity to freely frolic and dance with her guests and her beloved, to enjoy more space and easier movement, and to make a status statement. Then, at some point during the 1980’s brides sought out designer dresses, centering around big bows, exagerrated shoulders (it was the shoulder-pad era, after all), opting for jewel-toned dresses (hello Princess Diana!)or something sophisticated and black.
The tradition of wearing two wedding dresses is making a come-back!
Yes my friends, you read that right! Only this time it’s not a matter of only comfort, and coloration, but of unique styling as well! The Experts’ Opinion
In collaboration with Greek Haute Fashion & Bridalwear Designer Maria Konidi, the dream-dress proposal came with two completely different wedding dresses. Both of them coordinating perfectly with our bride’s floral and decor scheme, as well as her chosen venue style, a private villa smack in the heart of Athens city. I’m talking about equal parts dreamy and perfect for a glamor-loving bride. Both of them handsewn in the plushest fabrics and materials by Maria herself, both of them the epitome of elegance. One to evoke Hollywood Red Carpet glam complete with a long train that skirted the marbled floors, and the wooden staircase, and the other an ethereal see-through laced beauty trimmed with ornate blooms with a more romantic feel, channeling those sweet summer nights that ache for movement and breeze!
