My why(s)
CONNECTION – That has to be one of my favourite notions in the entire world. Some call it reciprocity, others contact, kinship and go-between … In my books it’s not about how it’s phrased, but the fact it is universal. It’s not necessarily texted, spoken, or … emailed. But IT IS FELT.
My way through life, personally, and professionally was all about it. I’ve learned to listen and to hone my insticts, to be receptive and constantly aim to break that glass ceiling in search of it. To that end I’m a forever student, staying curious. My couples say “we feel we can kick back with you” and this is a stripe in my uniform.
MORE THAN A FEELING, MEMORY– January 6th. Wallowing in a 40-degree pool, with steam curling into cloud shapes I think of Spring: my favourite season, when orange-tree sentinels blossom expansively downtown in Athens and spread olfactory shivers across the streets.
Contemplative on this memory I have of my city I realize the falling snow now dissolves more gently, and the water’s milky blue depths look brighter than before. Memory does that to people, it amplifies the feelings. I chose to photograph people’s happiness because of that!
